09:23 pm - new blog
Kevin and I started a blog to post about our Colorado trip, and other future adventures. It also has a link to our new picasa web photo album. I still plan to post on this blog, but if you want to see what I'm up to, much of it will be on that page: http://cktuckerlife.blogspot.com/

I had my well-woman exam earlier this week, and it went well. but I am supposed to get my cholestorol checked since it was a bit high the last time we tested it (3 yrs ago). I get a non-fasting check when i give blood and its also usually a bit high, but I've not really worried about it. I know it runs in my family to have high cholestorol (now whether it runs genetically or because of our behavior I don't know), so I'm a little worried about what it will say - i'm supposed to be working on it with diet and exercise but I've been somewhat laxed with both (also meaning I'm not losing weight and in fact feel like I've gained). I know I need to take care of myself, I just like a lot of the bad for me stuff and alcohol, which I also like, is empty calories. I know its better to know and then determine what to do about it, better than going along oblivious if anything is wrong....I need to make renewed efforts to make better food choices and make time for exercise -- and push myself when i do (that is i think the part i'm lacking on the exercise side).
off to labcorp.....

I only have one more day of work this week, yay! I have Friday off from work, so K is taking the day off too, so we're going to Surfside to hang out at the beach and will spent Easter with his family, my parents will be in Austin for the weekend. they were supposed to be off in the RV but are having problems with it.
I found my sunglasses! I went outside a bit ago to look, thinking I'd have no chance because they were likely in the mulch or that maybe they'd fallen into the trash and were gone. but, I was weeding and looking for them, and there they were -- hanging from one of the bushes! yay...glad i procrastinated buying a new one.

07:32 pm - st patty's day
At work today I heard noises that I thought were gunshots, a bit later I looked out my window and realized it was the people dying the bayou green - using guns and a cannon. They were doing it in honor of the irish who fought in the Alamo. They weren't very successful, it was only green in a few places, but was fun to watch. We went downstairs to the patio to watch it and did for a while, but it was so windy!
Tonight we made green beer and enchiladas. the enchiladas turned out so well, I even took a picture of them!

Last weekend we cleaned up and cleaned out the garage - and got a light installed with help from my dad (the old light from the kitchen). Today we are doing yard work. We weeded and mulched the front yard, and are putting in some new plants in the back - another agapanthia (sp?), 2 citrus trees, and some marigolds; and will mulch it when we are finished. Its a gorgeous day to be outside, but gets hot quick. we've run into ants in a few places, argh i hate them! and i managed to lose my sunglasses, probably buried in the mulch somewhere...that is why i only buy cheap sunglasses, i lose them so often.

I've been so busy I've not had time to post anything, just going to post a few tidbits for the week:
my blonde moment on Thursday: I went to my first meeting (actually a training) of the day at 8:15, to find out it was actually the previous day. I misread the email. He sent it tuesday after office hours and said 'tomorrow', so when i read it on Wednesday i took it to mean thursday, but by that point tomorrow was actually today. maybe it was my brain doing that to help me get out of a meeting, it'll be held again in March (which, hard to believe starts TODAY)
I saw a funny and dumb bumper sticker on my walk with Smokey one morning: "make tacos not war" I'm going to make a list of the silly signs like that i see, nothing beats "office with a view - drive a cab!" ridiculous, that is NOT an office nor can you really just look out the window when you are driving. at SPIRE we had a huge list of stuff like this, called SPIRE wows (words of wisdom)...i should find it, some make no sense to me anymore but some are hilarious!
I had a great Friday night last night -- we went to the indian place we like (Laura met us there), and I noticed a gelato place next door that I've seen for a while and told K i wanted to get that after we ate...and we did! It was really good, ice cream is such a treat that I rarely get - part of why its a treat. it was fun, and afterwards I went to get my new phone with spring. I'm switching to sprint to join a family plan with K - same features and it'll cost less.
A while back I got two different forwards at almost the exact same time, so dork that I am I put most of the questions together to answer both at once :)

07:30 am - guitar hero
going through the mail I saw a strange looking large envelope. it is for the replacement guitar hero disc. to get it, we have to send back the one we have and it'll take 3-4 weeks to get the new one! We have time to decide (til August), but I think I'd rather keep what we have then send it off and not get the disc back for a MONTH! we play it fairly regularly and a month seems ridiculous. I thought they were setting it up in a way that i could go to a store and do a swap in the store....grrr...

Kevin and I went to Brazos Bend State Park on Saturday with our bikes ~ with the new bike rack it is so easy to take them places, my bike has already gone more places than in the whole time with the Rav4. We had a lot of fun riding various trails and finally remembered to bring stuff for a picnic! On the way down there, driving down the highway we saw a car on the shoulder and then saw a guy , standing right next to it, and the way he was standing there was only one thing he could be doing, sure enough he was peeing right there along the highway, barely up the road was a county road he could turn down but guess he had to go RIGHT THEN…gross…back to the park, by our calculations of the map distances we rode about 8 miles (that is far for me). Leaving we saw that there is as much, or more, of the park that we haven't seen yet and we plan to go back – including the part that I remember, a trail around a large lake/swamp area where we might see alligators! We're looking at getting an annual pass - $60 for a carload of people for a year instead of $4 per person per trip.....sounds like a good deal, and even if we don't go enough times to pay for it, state parks is something i feel good about my money going towards. Park pass info: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/park
This weekend we also bought a new game for the Wii and played it last night. It’s a trivia game, called Smarty Pantz and has different categories, kind of like trivial pursuit. It’s a lot of fun, and in two out of 3 games I was the smarty pants! We thought it was broken at first because we’d always end up with the fashion category (bad one for both of us).
Gar! I just saw that the price of stamps is going up again in May, to 42 cents (from 41). Forever stamps are the way to go, just to make it easier to remember how much postage you need. I barely send anything via snail mail anymore, only what I have to. The last thing I sent was my mail-in prescription because they needed the original prescription. I love online bill pay, eliminates a lot of what I’d have ot mail otherwise.
Random thing I thought of that I wanted to mention. When we set up the EZ tag for Kevin’s new car, I saw that they didn’t deactivate my Hyundai like they were supposed to. I saw it because looking at my account I saw a lincese plate that wasn’t my Honda listed, someone is driving my POS Hyundai and I paid their $1 toll. I got them to re-deactivate it, and saw that it was done, hopefully it’ll stick this time. They passed a new law that now they have to give you the plates off your old car (we got K’s rav’s plates), so they won’t stay with the car when they get a new owner. You could actually put those plates on your new car, but we opted to get new plates.
Smokey went to the vet today. He did really well, but so does not like it. he needed a shot and a checkup, and they had to take a fecal sample, not pleasant but they gave me something that next time I can take poo from the ground, and spare him having to do that again, sounds like a winning idea to me!

This is a test to see if my mini-feed on Facebook updates to show I made an entry on my livejournal.
the sun finally came out today! So, we got to break in our new bike rack. Kevin researched and ordered a bike rack that goes in the trailer hitch of his new 4runner. We took the bikes down to Tom Bass park and rode around and watched some radio-controlled helicopters and planes at the airfield part of the park – we both think that Kaden would LOVE watching them. It was a lot of fun to get out on the bikes and the rack gives us the option to take our bikes so many more places than before :)
